The Content Machine is an internal tool run by Peak Edge Ventures for consultants at its portfolio companies. It drafts LinkedIn posts in your voice, and you decide what happens to them. This page says what it holds about you, who can see it, and where it goes. It is not a legal document written to protect us, it is a description of the system.
What it holds
Who you are. Your name, your work email address, your job title, the firm you work at, and your LinkedIn profile URL. All of it was given to us by your firm when your account was set up.
Your drafts. The posts written for you, any edits you make, and what you decided: approved, edited, rejected or parked. When you reject or park a draft we keep the line you wrote saying why, because that line is what corrects the machine. If you tell us a post went live, we keep the URL and, later, its engagement figures.
Your voice profile. The record of how you write: your register, your opinions, words you will not use, subjects you will not touch. You can read and edit your own.
Timestamps. When a pack was sent to you, when you first opened it, when you decided, and when you posted. This is how we tell whether the machine is useful or whether it is quietly wasting your time.
How you use the app. Which screens you open, when you open them, and a few specific actions: copying a post, downloading an image, switching between the image styles offered, choosing to ship without one. This is how we tell whether the tool is useful and where people get stuck, and it is what a founder’s question like “is anyone actually using this?” gets answered from. It records that a thing happened and which draft it happened to. It never records what a draft says, and there is no session recording and no tracking of you anywhere outside this app.
Notes we write about drafts. The people running this keep candid working notes against each draft: which one is weakest, why a topic was held back, what to watch in your next pack. These are internal and you will not see them in the app. They are about the writing, not about you as an employee, and they are not shared with your firm as an assessment of you.
What it does not hold
If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, your email address and your profile picture, and nothing else. The app cannot read your mail, your calendar, your contacts or your files, and it does not ask for permission to. If you sign in by email instead, we hold only your address.
There is no advertising in this app, nothing here is sold, and nothing follows you to other websites.
Who can see it
You see your own drafts, your own decisions and your own voice profile. You do not see other consultants’ drafts, at your firm or anywhere else, and this is enforced by the database rather than by the screen hiding things.
Founders at your own firm see the drafts and activity of people at that firm. They cannot see any other firm.
Peak Edge Ventures administrators see everything: every draft at every firm, the internal notes, and the usage records below. That is currently two people, Johnny Rosen, who writes and runs the packs, and Sam Totham. They are named here rather than described, because “administrators” is not an answer to the question “who can read what I wrote?”
The usage records above are the one exception to that pattern: only administrators can read them. Founders cannot see how their team uses the app, and you cannot see your own. Reading somebody’s minute-by-minute activity is a different thing from reading their drafts, and it is not something we hand out by default.
Who else it goes to
Four suppliers, each doing one job, none of them given your data for their own purposes:
- Supabase stores the database and handles sign-in. The data lives in the EU.
- Railway runs the website itself.
- Google is involved only if you choose to sign in with Google, and only to confirm that you are you.
- Sentry receives a report when the app breaks, so it can be fixed. These reports can include the page you were on.
When the app emails you to say a pack has landed, that mail carries a count and a link and never the drafts themselves, so no post content passes through a mail provider.
How long it is kept
Drafts and decisions are kept for as long as the project runs, because the archive is what stops the machine repeating a topic you already posted and what teaches it your voice. If you leave your firm, or you want your profile and drafts removed, ask and it will be done.
